Tutoring at Great Southern Grammar's Boarding Houses - Albany Tutoring

In term 4, the year 7 and 8, boarding students received professional support to help them achieve their English and Maths learning goals. Specialist teachers worked with the students for six weeks in two hour masterclass sessions for Maths and English. The focus was on teaching essential literacy and numeracy skills and knowledge in line with the classroom learning experience.

The year 7’s worked brilliantly to understand literary techniques by examining the Tim Winton classic; Blueback. From there, it was a straight line to success, as they practised linear equations, chance and probability.

The year 8’s highlights included examining indigenous poetry and short stories to better understand our rich Indigenous history. The Maths program was all about profit, loss and savings; all very important with Christmas just around the corner!

The lessons were peppered with break out sessions on study, time management and learning techniques. It was awesome for each student to have plenty of time to refresh what they learned in class and practice those skills in a structured and supportive learning environment.
